Switch Scene Hotspot remains after switching

edited November 2024 in Technical Q&A

Hello!
I've been having an issue with my game, I've set it up so that when the player approaches the edge of the scene, or a door, there's a hotspot with an arrow texture, which the player clicks on to switch scenes. The scene switch works, but when the new scene loads, the icon of the hotspot (of the previous scene) remains on screen until the player approaches another hotspot. I've been using a canvas UI, with displaying set on player vicinity, displaying nearest hotspot only and displaying hotspot only when highlighting. Any ideas what could be making this happening?

Edit: I've accidentally posted this on engine development, how do I move it to technical Q&A?

  • I'd need to see screenshots of the issue, as well as of the settings that cause it to display - can you post on imgur?

  • Sure! (And thank you for moving the post). Here are screenshots of the first scene with the hotspot icon triggered (just before the player switches scenes) and the second scene, where you can see the hotspot icon still remains after switching. I've also added the hotspot inspector and the HotspotIcon Menu settings and the AC Hotspots settings and Scene loading settings (just in case maybe there's something there). Thank you!

  • Thanks, I'll attempt a recreation.

Does it work if you uncheck Duplicate for each Hotspot? in the Menu's properties?

Have you tried the other approach of displaying nearby Hotspot icons, via the "Hotspots" panel in the Settings Manager? For them to display this way, you just need to attach a Highlight component to your Hotspot and assign it in its Inspector.

  • Unchecking the "duplicate for each Hotspot? worked! Thank you!

  • That should hold things in the meantime, but I'll see the underlying issue addressed in v1.82.2 - thanks for the bug report.
