Interactions are intended to be run separately - based on the way the Player chooses to interact with the Hotspot, e.g. "Look at", "Talk to" etc.
How these interactions are chosen is based on your Settings Manager's Interaction method. If this is set to Context Sensitive, the most basic, then you left-click to run a Hotspot's "Use" interaction, and right-click to run its "Examine" interaction (defined in a separate panel underneath in the Hotspot Inspector).
To allow the Player more control over how Hotspots are interacted with ("Talk to", "Pick up", "Use" etc), switch to either Choose Hotspot Then Interaction or Choose Interaction Then Hotspot - the former used by the 2D Demo.
For more on each of the available modes, and details on how to use them, see the Manual's "Interaction methods" chapter.

"Run in parallel" as in simultaneously?
