Translation and Subtitels with Cinema Director

Hello,

I'm wondering how it can be done to have different language files, when i have Cinema Director Cutscenes with speech sections in it.

I would do it now the stale way with different Cutscenes for each language and then have a AC actionlist to choose the right one accordingly to the selected language.
The next problem is that i will not have AC subtitles in the cutscenes, but there is a way to make some in Cinema Director, which will maybe not have the same coherent look as in AC, but i don't know a better way right now.

So what is the best way to handle this?

Maybe there is also something that the Cinema Director developers could do or add to make this task easy?

Thanks for suggestions and thoughts on this!

  • Have you tried placing each speech line in it's own Cutscene, and then running them individually from your CD Cutscene?  You can trigger a Cutscene by calling it's "Interact" function.

AC can use Unity UI for subtitles, so presumably you could also use the same UI design within CD.

Beyond that, these are questions for the Cinema Director team.
  • Thank you very much for answering, i have slept a night over it and came to the conclusion that i don't need actually Cinema Director cause AC has all the funcionallity that i need to make Cutscenes.

But what i really want are the FaceExpressions from Salsa.

After the first sentence from the girl, i fired the Cinema Director Cutscene from the Actionlist to have the ability to change the Face Expression on the guys face, because Salsa have a plugin for CD to control these things within CD.

But when i could control and start these Expressions right in the AC Actionlists, i don't need CD and it will make the thing much more easier to handle.
I think it might work now when i write a custom script to start a specific expression and fire it up with an Action List Command.

Cause it really would give the opportunity to generate specific emotions on the faces very easy, which would be very cool for every game i could imagine.
  • OK.  Be sure to check out this tutorial when writing a custom Action.
